Mattia Vezzola Rosé Brut is the rosé Metodo Classico of Costaripa, the Vezzola family winery in Moniga del Garda, in the Valtènesi. It bears the signature of winemaker Mattia Vezzola: the winery has been making Metodo Classico sparkling wine since 1973.
Type: Vino Spumante di Qualità, Metodo Classico Rosé Brut, 12.5% vol
Grapes: Chardonnay 80%, Pinot Noir 20%
Vineyards: limestone-clay soils between Lake Garda and Lake Iseo
Method: soft pressing; the Pinot Noir is vinified partly as rosé and partly as red; 35% of the must ferments in small 228-litre white oak barrels; second fermentation in the bottle
Ageing: long ageing on the lees
Nose and palate: very delicate antique pink with a fine perlage; a clean, fresh bouquet of small red berries (redcurrant, raspberry) and citrus; elegant and harmonious on the palate, extremely savoury, fresh and fragrant.
Food pairing: seafood aperitifs, oysters, sushi, delicately smoked salmon.
Serving: 4–6 °C.
