Lugana and time.
It comes from the same vineyard as its younger version, but through a meticulous selection of grapes that are left on the vine for longer.
Without reaching the point of drying, but with a slight over-ripening, this Lugana keeps remarkable composure and rigour, allowing it to face its evolution without fear, indeed with great confidence. The greater concentration, together with the firm structure of its acidity, allows a vinification aimed at ageing prospects unusual for a white wine.
The must ferments in stainless steel at carefully controlled temperatures. The wine rests in steel tanks for at least two years on its fine lees, with bâtonnage, and is bottled before the summer heat. After six months of bottle ageing it is ready to leave the cellar.
Its colour is straw yellow, ranging from pale to deep depending on the stage of ageing.
On the nose it is intense in its complexity, revealing the hallmarks of the variety in citrus – sweeter this time – and in aromatic herbs and an enveloping, well-balanced minerality.
Since the 2017 vintage, the family's hundredth harvest, we have stopped using wood ageing to allow the clearest expression of the grape.
On the palate it is warm, engaging and harmonious, with remarkable purity and linearity. The finish is dominated by a gentle progression that ends with great finesse.
The first vintage was produced in 1998.
